As for tempered (strand woven) bamboo and nature bamboo, this is true absolute terms; with a respective hardness of 11.9 kg/mm2 and 11.77 kg/mm2 (Brinell scale), this significantly exceeds the olive (6.08 kg / mm2) and the ipe (5.95 kg / mm2); classic bamboo, however retains a hardness of 4.7 kg / mm2, which is significantly higher than merbau, doussié, wengé, beech or oak.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Why does it cost less than other solid wood flooring?” tab_id=”costa”][vc_column_text]This is due to two reasons:
a) lots of raw material is ready during the fourth to fifth year of life, which is characterised by spontaneous growth;
b) the bamboo parquet must be produced using fresh material; this implies that the material is processed immediately once cultivated, namely in China, and this contributes towards maintaining its competitive cost.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How is it processed?” tab_id=”lavorazione”][vc_column_text]This is explained in detail here for classic bamboo, here for tempered bamboo and here for nature bamboo.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Where is it processed?” tab_id=”dove”][vc_column_text]95% of bamboo flooring work produced globally stems from China (a further 5% is processed in Indonesia or Vietnam); this is because it has to processed in a short time so that the material absorbs the properties which will allow it to become a parquet.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Is it just like laying other flooring or do you have to follow any special procedures?” tab_id=”posa”][vc_column_text]It is laid like other solid wood, namely on any dry and health substrate, and by using a standard dual-component or silanic adhesive, or on a floating laying mat. Please refer to the section laying for detailed instructions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How do you keep it clean?” tab_id=”pulito”][vc_column_text]Just like all other parquets; the bamboo flooring treated with BONA varnish does not fear a MINIMAL quantity of water and neutral detergent for it to be washed, and if required, you can also add some alcohol to remove stubborn stains; however, the BONA cleaner kit produced by BONA is also available specifically for hardwood flooring; this means that the issue of how to keep the parquet clean becomes a thing of the past. The kit, which is called the Bona Spray Mob and which is available in warehouses, is extremely convenient: it has everything you need in one single implement, consisting of three parts which require assembling in one go: the spray mop (handle), the cleaning pad (a microfibre washable cloth), and a wood floor cleaner (an integrated container with a detergent solution). The new Bona Spray Mob allows you to both clean and maintain the bamboo parquet in one go; allow the product to work for a few minutes should there be any tough stains. A 4 litre tank for refilling the container is also available. Look here for details regarding cleaning and here to have a more in-depth look of what the Bona Spray Mop is.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can it be laid in the bathroom?” tab_id=”bagno”][vc_column_text]Strictly speaking, no wooden flooring would be laid in a bathroom; however, if you still wish to lay it in the bathroom as many customers have done to date, then it is a good idea to choose a core which is moisture resistant, such as bamboo or teak. When doing so, a little precaution is required: air the room so that is as dry as possible, etc. It must be laid in the bathroom by using an adhesive.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can it be laid in business premises?” tab_id=”locali”][vc_column_text]The Pavibamboo prefinished parquet can be used in any type of business premises: office, hotel, restaurant, showroom, gyms, shops.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can it be laid in the kitchen?” tab_id=”cucina”][vc_column_text]There is nothing to suggest otherwise: the BONA surface finish is incredibly waterproof to liquids; we attempted to pour coffee, water, oil, vinegar and ink, and to leave it for around ten minutes; fifteen minutes later, it was only the ink which left a barely visible trace, as all of the other liquids had been removed without a trace. You can try the samples we will send you, or you can have a look at the resistance tests here.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can it be laid floating?” tab_id=”flottante”][vc_column_text]As a rule, hardwood flooring with male-female interlocking cannot be floating; this is because hardwood always has more accentuated movements than classic parquet whish is bolstered by an upper noble layer. Let’s now look at our parquet: our classic bamboo and nature bamboo are particularly stable because they are very well matured material which has rested for a considerable period prior to being processed; for this reason, they can be floated (of course by using a mat) with a drop of vinegar-vinyl adhesive inside the male-female interlocking; our tempered bamboo can also be floating because it has automatic shut-off interlocking capabilities. The only type which absolutely has to be bonded to the floor is tempered bamboo for floor heating systems.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can it be re-smoothed?” tab_id=”rilamare”][vc_column_text]Because the enormous strips are 18, 15, 12 mm thick (or 10 mm for the version suitable for laying on floor heating), it can be recondition like any other parquet; for example, 15 mm thick becomes 14.8 mm, and the bamboo returns to its raw state, after which it can be reconditioned as you require, using either varnish, oil or wax.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How much should I order in addition to the surface area?” tab_id=”ordine-metri”][vc_column_text]When laying in normal format, an extra 8% is required; when laying in diagonal format, an additional 12% is required.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How much do the cartons weigh and how much material do they contain?” tab_id=”cartoni”][vc_column_text]A classic bamboo carton weighs approximately 23 kg, and consists of 24 slates which correspond to 2.21 m2 when ready for laying;
a tempered bamboo carton weighs approximately 17 kg and consists of 16 slates, i.e. 1.35 m2 of material;
a tempered bamboo carton for radiant screed installation weighs approximately 14 kg and consists of 18 slates, i.e. 1.52 m2 of parquet;
a nature bamboo carton weighs approximately 24 kg, and consists of 10 slates which correspond to 1,52 m2 when ready for laying.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Are the adhesives which are used in the factory to hold bamboo strips together when forming a board a danger to your health?” tab_id=”colle”][vc_column_text]No, Pavibamboo only uses adhesive from the Dutch company Akzo Nobel (see technical datasheet) and from the Finnish company Dynea (see technical datasheet).[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”In what sense is bamboo an environmentally friendly material?” tab_id=”1486376277602-8c13cb86-3610″][vc_column_text]Bamboo grows by itself in just a few years, and does so without any pesticides or fertilisers; unlike some woods, it is not cut in the wild, but it is cut uniformly on an annual basis by only trimming the reeds which have reached a minimum of their fourth year of life, meaning that over 80% of the woodland remains in tact after it has been cut. The whole process is explained further here. Furthermore, a bamboo forest absorbs more CO2 on average than equivalent tree forest and it releases more oxygen; all of which results virtually zero impact on the environment.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What are the terms of the warranty?” tab_id=”1486376360312-ff5fd37b-90a7″][vc_column_text]A Pavibamboo bamboo parquet comes with a 20 year warranty for domestic use, and a five year warranty for commercial use; decking has a 10 year warranty for domestic use and five for commercial; please see the warranty for details.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How does delivery take place?” tab_id=”1486376414890-2b73cf3c-d988″][vc_column_text]Pavibamboo delivers throughout the whole of Europe by using couriers; delivery takes place by using a hydraulic shaft which leaves the material under the room where it is t o be installed, or at the nearest point to the final destination which can be reached by the lorry.
